Who the hell am I and what do I do? Well, I'm a freelance graphic illustrator, currently residing in Melbourne, Australia. I specialise in sports logos and sports based editorial.
Why do I specialise in sports? Well, I'm passionate enough about graphic design, and the only thing I care about when I'm not designing; is sports. So why on earth wouldn't I combine my two passions together?
Currently, the business is a sole proprietorship as I'm the only operator. To date, I’ve been operating as a freelancer for over four years now. As a freelance illustrator, I’ve had a range of pursuits and directions over the years in doing logo designs and campaigns directly for clients, selling a personal line of lettering based products and infographics for a range of clients.
I started freelancing to specialise in my greatest strengths and abilities within a creative context. When I started working professionally as a graphic designer, I realised that to create work that was genuinely inspiring to me; I had to get out there and build my own business in order to work on projects that truly mattered to me.
The core values as to why I do what I do; is to create work of a unique nature that inspires others. I want to create work that motivates and uplifts the critical demographic that it's aimed towards. I want to create work that directly aligns with a subset of goals and helps creative directors, businesses and advertising companies make a difference and leave an impression.
I never rest until the right solution is found. I’m not afraid of doing the hard work and investing all of myself into creating incredible solutions that are essential for your project.
As the creative service industry is quite broad, it can be so hard to narrow down what you’re requirements are. I’m here to serve the sports market and to create something iconic, graphic and moving in a contemporary way. My goal is to help your project stand out in a very dense and saturated market.
Many creatives have an approach of expressing their agenda first and foremost. They don’t have a mentality of creating work that serves or benefit others. I’m not naive enough to think that the creative work I produce needs to serve my personal needs. I create work that has a purpose. I create work that solves problems. I create work that has a lasting impact.
Overall I can help your brand and image look more professional. I can help position your brand as something that gains positive recognition for all of the right reasons. I can help your business communicate a vital message and to form connections with your audience. I can help you increase sales, and you’re overall market positioning.
In a saturated market standing out is becoming more and more difficult. With my professional and creative abilities, I can help your brand stand out in a vital way that’s conducive to the success of your project.
I work tirelessly to achieve results that will help create an impact. I know that takes hard work. I know that means facing many challenges. I know that setting a high standard can be difficult to achieve consistently. However, I always ensure I deliver work of a high standard. I never take the easy way out and always make an effort to inspire the end user. I’m extremely dedicated to the craft of illustration and design. I never stopped until I know I’ll get heads turning.
Many creatives like to take the "when I feel like it approach", but I'm the type of guy that takes the Jerry Seinfeld approach. I keep showing up until I find the solution instead of waiting around for lightning to strike my way.
After being a fan of sports for so long and from working in the graphic design trade for so long, I always felt that the sports world wasn’t represented in the best and most creative way. As it is such a specialised and niche industry, many people would execute work that wasn’t up to par on both a technical and emotional level. I wanted to step into this industry and help provide a high level of creative quality. My mission has been to help elevate the standard of sports in a creative context, to showcase the beauty and creativity behind sports. To express the feelings of inspiration, arousal and elevation that sports bring to people.
Initially, my whole business and illustration pursuit started as a naive way to solely serve myself and to express my own visual aesthetic. I realised through many struggles in my creative career that any business can’t operate with a desire to serve your own personal needs. This mindset and mentality serves no one and helps no one. To help people and benefit others, you have to focus on your clients direct needs and outcomes for a project.
If you were interested in having some work done and wanted to discuess the needs of your project by all means please get in touch.
